About our school

Founded in 2012, Parramatta Arabic School is a community language school located in Western Sydney, Parramatta. The school provides Arabic classes for school-aged students who come from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds to enable them learn the Arabic language in a fun, safe and interactive educational environment. We offer our classes primarily over the weekend during school terms at Parramatta North Public School. We also offer a special after-school program for beginners on Tuesday and Thursday called Little Arabic Explorers.

Our mission

Our mission is to provide high quality Arabic education to students who come from different backgrounds. We are committed to ensure all students receive the knowledge and skill required to succeed in their Arabic learning journey and to empower them to learn a beautiful language which will help them develop their skills and engagement within the outer community.

Being an active member of the NSW Community language schools, Parramatta Arabic School offers programs that encourage students to stand out in the community and help them to maximise their potentials throughout their development journey by becoming bilingual. Through a balanced curriculum we provide programs that encourage students to strive to reach their full potential in all areas of language learning including reading, writing, listening and communicating independently.

Our service area

Our multicultural school services Parramatta area being the second largest city in the state of New South Wales, with more than 7,280 households who speak the Arabic language at their home. The school also opens its doors to students from many of the surrounding suburbs and districts with many students attending from the Hills District area.

How do we do it?

Parramatta Arabic School is determined to help children achieve the best possible learning outcome. Our talented teachers work hard throughout the week to prepare the most suitable materials that students will benefit from.

Our team have been teaching Arabic and Quran for many years and are capable of delivering outstanding results. We seek to partner with parents to maximise our opportunities for greater success.

Weekend

Levels

Parramatta Arabic School is committed to ensure that what we teach your child is based on the best practices of effective language teaching and the most accredited learning resources. We try our best to allow children learn and use the Arabic language in an enjoyable, safe and interactive educational environment. We offer six programs which are carefully selected to assist students to develop their language skills from a reading, writing, speaking and listening perspectives.

Alongside Arabic, we also offer students an additional quranic program that gives them a great opportunity to memorise Quran and learn how to recite it correctly.

Kindergarten

The program for this level focuses on introducing the Arabic alphabets to students in visual, written and spoken formats, with and without short vowels. It also includes activities to assist students interact with their peers and teacher by exchanging greetings and responding to simple instructions. Students learn the different sounds of letters by mimicking pronunciation, recognising single words and matching words to pictures.

Grade level 1 - Stages 1 & 2

The program for this class focuses on enabling students to start reading, writing and communicating simple words with short and long vowels. Students learn the different shapes of the Arabic alphabets from both writing and sounding perspectives. They learn how to join letters to make words and interact with their peers and teacher to exchange greetings and simple information. They use activity based learning (e.g cutting, colouring, picture matching) to read and identify key words and information in simple text.

Grade level 2 - Stages 1 & 2

The program for this class focuses on enabling students to read, write and communicate words and expressions. Students interact with their teacher and each other to share basic information about themselves and their families. They move on to a higher level of recognition of the Arabic alphabets from both writing and sounding perspectives with signs like tanween and shaddah. They reproduce the sounds and rhythms of spoken Arabic to understand how sentences are structured. They use activity based learning to read and identify key words and information in simple text.

Grade level 3 - Stages 1 & 2

The program for this class focuses on enabling students to read, write and communicate full sentences. Students interact with the teacher and each other to share information, follow instructions and complete activities. They identify and locate key words from written and spoken texts using visual activities. They recognise and apply basic elements of grammar. They practice on how to compose text using familiar words and common expressions.

Grade level 4

The program for this class is designed to help students improve their core four language skills in Arabic; reading, listening, speaking and writing. The program introduces a wider range of grammar and focuses on developing the student's ability to read, write and comprehend medium-length paragraphs independently. Students interact with the teacher and their peers to exchange information and ideas on topics of interest. They also engage in group activities to help them recognise key words from written and spoken texts.

Grade level 5

The program for this class focuses on enabling students to compose informative text linking ideas in a series of sentences, and using correct grammar. They engage in classroom activities to help them interact fluently with each other and to exchange information and opinions. They are also given support to identify main ideas and specific information in a range of written and spoken texts, and to respond to specific audiences. They explore and comprehend several articles on countries and cultures.

Quran Classes?

The ability to recite and memories Quran is a dream many Muslim parents have for their children. Indeed, it is a challenging long term goal to achieve and requires a lot of efforts, enthusiasm and persistence. However, there is no doubt that learning the language of Quran is a significant investment for your child who will eventually enjoy the reward of it for the rest of their life.

At Parramatta Arabic School, we offer students an additional Quranic program that gives a great opportunity for those interested to practice memorising Quran and learn how to recite it correctly. While our main focus isn't on memorising Quran, our programs aim to allow students to develop their self-reading confidence, refine their pronunciation and boost their relationship with Quran. Nevertheless, this does not take away the weight of responsibility on our shoulders as parents to pursue that goal.
